Los Angeles based trumpet player Andrew Rodman enjoys a varied career as performer and educator. The multifaceted musician works in a wide variety of styles. Equally at home on the concert stage to the recording studio to the nightclub, Andrew has performed for film, TV, radio and live audiences across the US and internationally.
Andrew performs in many different musical settings: classical, jazz, musical theater, Latin, commercial/pop, and more. Some recent career highlights have been performing the National Anthem for Los Angeles Angels Baseball at Angels Stadium to a live audience of more than 40,000 and another anthem for UCLA Football at the Rose Bowl on national TV, recording for pop artist Michael Bublé, and performing on the upcoming Paramount Plus feature “The Offer” (2022 release). In the jazz field Andrew has performed in big bands led by legends Bob Mintzer, Bill Cunliffe, Vince Mendoza and more. An active performer in Latin music he works with Sonora Santanera, La Nueva Sangre, Sonora Karnaval, and many others performing in venues across the country. Recent notable performances have been for Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI and Hispanic Heritage Festival in St. Louis, MO.
A dedicated educator, Andrew's teaching studio includes pupils of all ages and skill levels. Currently, he is professor of trumpet at Loyola Marymount University and Cerritos College and works with LA-based nonprofit organization Harmony Project, educating underprivileged students in orchestral music and musicianship. He has been on the faculty of private and public elementary, middle, high schools, and colleges and taught underserved students in inner city LA with YOLA and the Young Musicians Foundation.
Andrew completed graduate studies at the Thornton School of Music at USC where he earned his Masters degree and Graduate Certificate as a student of Boyde Hood and Tom Hooten. He received his Bachelor of Music from the Bob Cole Conservatory at Cal State Long Beach under the mentorship of Rob Frear, David Washburn, and Christopher Still. Currently, Andrew is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trumpet performance at UCLA with renowned soloist Jens Lindemann as a Cota-Robles Fellowship recipient.
Andrew is a member of the Juaneño Band of Mission Indians, Acjachemen Nation from San Juan Capistrano, CA and is the great-grandson of celebrated city patriarch Paul “Mocho” Arbiso. In his time away from music Andrew instructs and competes in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and was awarded his black belt in 2021 by William “Bill” Tetsch of Leon Jiu Jitsu. In his free time Andrew enjoys surfing, cooking, and traveling.
